invites you to its 11th Oxford Conference, comprising
the 6th OIBC Spring Symposium on 11 April 2005 on
Health: A major constraint to human

an international workshop on 12 and 13 April 2005 on
Novel approaches to combat tuberculosis
Speakers at the symposium will include:

Security and Ethnicity, Queen Elisabeth House, Oxford U) to be confirmed
- Prof
Roy Anderson (Dept of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, St Mary’s
Hospital/Imperial College) How vulnerable are we to epidemics of new
infectious diseases?
- Prof
Sir Richard Peto (Clinical
Trials Service Unit, Oxford U) Smoking and alcohol (or similar title)
- Prof
Steve Bloom (Dept of Metabolic Medicine, Hammersmith
Hospital/Imperial College) Obesity (or similar title)
Speakers at the workshop will include:

Coates (Chair
of Microbiology, St George’s Medical School, London U) A screen for testing
compounds with activity against dormant bacilli Mr Miles
- Dr Tanjore Balganesh (Head of Research, AstraZeneca Research Centre, Bangalore (to be confirmed)
Also, members of OIBC’s international consortium
on Trans-continental selection and verification of plants with potential for
anti-tuberculosis drug development will report on progress.
